From the design of a carousel to Europa Park
This family story is a dream come true. In just three centuries, the Mack clan has become a giant in the amusement park sector.
Paul Mack started out in a coal workshop in a picturesque German town. Gradually, the industry evolved and he found himself at the head of a company that designed fairground attractions and amusement park equipment.
The Mack company specialised in 1921 with its first detachable roller coaster and opened up a new market: that of travellers.
After that, everything went very quickly.
Business was so good that they exported their expertise across the Atlantic to the United States, then to Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.
It was the 6th generation that changed the family's destiny with the creation of Europa Park in 1897 following the innovation of the attractions invented. Their primary goal was to show the public rides and other leisure attractions. In its first year, more than 250,000 people visited the park.
An exceptional park in Germany
Today, the Mack family's rides are still in Europa Park, but they also continue to be exported all over the world.
The most famous French amusement parks call on them: Disneyland Paris, the Pal, Parc Astérix... The small industry, led by one man, now has a hundred employees under its command.
In addition to an amusement park, Europa Park is above all a large village covering 95 hectares. Nearly one hundred shows take place every year and new attractions are regularly inaugurated.
