A “Maître Restaurateur” restaurant
Enjoying Alsatian hospitality as you dine
The renovated interior of the Au Cheval Blanc Restaurant in Baldersheim has lost nothing of its warm generous atmosphere and is the perfect place to enjoy “cuisine bourgeoise” (family cooking), in keeping with Alsatian traditions.
A traditional restaurant in Alsace
Enjoy a draught beer at the bar with friends, an Alsace beer of course, or the delicate aroma of a glass of white wine from the Alsace Wine Route, while you make the most of the terrace decorated with geraniums, a summer favourite in Alsace, at Au Cheval Blanc Restaurant near Mulhouse and 5 minutes from Sausheim.
Take a moment to stop and enjoy the atmosphere of a place that, in the last 50 years, has become one of Alsace’s historical gourmet treasures, since the Baldersheim village café of the 1960s, and the enhancements made by the Ladwerlin family in the 1980s, and then taken over by the Loeb family.
With a little luck you might be greeted by storks greeting on your visit to the Baldersheim Au Cheval Blanc Restaurant.
Traditional cuisine prepared on site
Choucroute garnie (with traditional accompaniments), game with spaetzle dumplings, and fish cooked in the regional way, like Sundgau fried carp, are all specialities on the menu.
Alsace wines, such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat and Pinot Blanc, take pride of place in the cellar, waiting to be opened at your table.
Among our suggestions for a complete culinary change of scene are the foie gras served with Gewurztraminer jelly, a full-bodied well-structured white wine, and the fillet of beef with Pinot noir served with an onion purée.
